64th Annual Openning of the Beaches Parade!

Sunday April 25th at 2pm

Join St. Paul’s Youth in tribute to “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn”

Saturday, April 24th, 5pm at the Youth Hut, we will be constructing the “FLOAT”!  Youth and Adult volunteers are needed!!

Any parish youth 6th-12th grade are invited to participate!  We will have hamburgers and hot dogs, etc.  Join us anytime from 5pm to 9pm.

You do not have to be in the parade to build the float, nor do you have to build the float to be in the parade!

On Parade Day-Sunday-the float will need to be in the staging area by NOON!  You can ride the float to the staging area but you must be at the youth hut before noon!!  The parade starts at 2pm.  We are in group #6 (there are 9 groups), so this means that we will be towards the end of the parade.  We will not start moving for a little while after the parade starts.  My recommendation is to be dropped off at the staging area by 2pm.  This may be a little difficult with the various roads closed for the parade.

Our staging area is the parking lot behind Campeche Bay and Beachside Casuals.  Corner of 2nd Street and 2nd Avenue North.  I would park at the church or youth hut. I will provide a pass for the windshield as the parking lot will be closed to the public, and walk to the staging area.  (only 2 blocks! ).

IF you want to ride the float to the staging area and wait, be at the youth hut by NOON at the latest!

park at the church and walk to the staging area by 2pm!!

The theme of our float is “A Tribute to Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn”, the theme of the entire parade is “hillbilly hoedown”

Google images for Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.  I am thinking cut off jeans, white tees, overalls, suspenders, plaid shirts, straw hats, fishing poles, braids for girls, freckles, etc.  Be creative!  Some of the girls could dress as Becky Thatcher ( google image).  Keep in mind that it will be in the 80’s and mid day.  Last year though we had a beautiful sea breeze!  Email me with any questions stpaulsyouthgroup@bellsouth.net
